Quentin Bauer, a writer and illustrator, has two weeks left on the Kickstarter clock for a project called Raiders of R’lyeh: From the Tideless Sea.
The game is a sandbox campaign and a sea-focused toolkit for Cthulhu horrors, and it’s all about d100 games as well. You can find out more on Kickstarter.
Set in the year 1900, one in which steamships explored the seas, and divers reached dangerous sunken secrets, Raiders of R’lyeh casts characters as the scoundrel crew of the S.S. Shantung.
From The Tideless Sea is the latest expansion of the d100 Games of the Raiders of R’lyeh tabletop RPG series.
As the name implies, this is a mashup of Lovecraft’s Call of Cthulhu and archaeologist action movies.
What is it, though?
- A homage to William Hope Hodgson’s ‘Sargasso Sea’ stories
- The scary experience sandbox/open world
- A vast, planet-spanning plot involving global empires and cosmic powers (inspired by the legendary Masks of Nyarlathotep or Shadows of Yog-Sothoth campaigns for the Call of Cthulhu RPG)
- A world sourcebook and toolkit collection for your Raiders of R’lyeh adventure — or easily adaptable for use with other d100 games or settings.
And then, on a storm-wracked sea, in a smoke-wreathed tavern, at the blood-stained altar of a savage land, you hear the whisper on the wind, the chant of the beast, the chorus of the mad: CTHULHU…it sleeps…it dreams…it rises…
You can support the crowdfunding campaign by spreading the news. If you have cash and can reach $20, about £18, you’ll be rewarded with a PDF copy of the final file and the map and resource PDF.
At $25, you’ll get the at-cost print-on-demand code and the early draft PDF in addition to the tier above.
The only other tier is $50, which adds the PDF of the Gamemaster’s Guide and Complete Rules and doubles the print-on-demand codes so you can get both books.
The estimated delivery is December this year.
