I rather liked Bofuri, or to give the anime its full name, BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.
Our hero sensibly decides she doesn’t like pain, so while playing in a virtual reality MMORPG inexpertly dumps all her stats into defence. The result is a win for her.
Do you remember Guild politics? Perhaps you’re still putting up with it. If so, BOFURI may have an extra wholesome appeal as Kaede charms her way innocently through the game.
IMDB says;
Honjou Kaede is invited by her friend Shiramine Risa to play a virtual reality MMO game with her. While Kaede doesn’t dislike games, what she really, truly dislikes is being in pain.
Season two of BOFURI has been delayed because we were expecting it in 2022, but along with the new trailer is the news the show will run in 2023. It’ll air in January 2023, so it’s not as bad as it could be.
The show is currently on Funimation so may continue on Crunchyroll, and they describe it similarly;
She may be new to gaming, but Maple has found the secret to invincibility! Just put all your skill points into defense until you can’t even move. That works, right? She doesn’t want to experience any pain in the VRMMO game she started playing, and somehow it works better than anyone expected. Now she’s got followers??
