George Gorgievski and GG Games have released the overview and mechanics 1D10 System for free.
It’s not so much a quickstart but an introduction.
The pitch for the RPG engine takes 15 pages, and if you like it, there’s a host of GG Games settings to apply them to.
- Distant Lands (Fantasy)
- Wild Frontiers (Western)
- Galvanic Adventures (Victorian Fantasy and Steampunk)
- Uncharted Territory (Vintage Pulp and Noir)
- Beyond Terra (Futuristic, Sci-Fi, and Cyber)
- Dark Horizons (Post Apocalyptic)
As the name promises, a single d10 is used in the system, but you don’t get to that until about page 6 of the freebie.
You add modifiers and compare them to a target score using a problem-action-resolution style you’ll be familiar with. The classless game derives PC characteristics from three primary attributes; Physical, Mental and Social.
The game’s 18 skills all fit into these three attributes but aren’t limited to them.
Creature Creation
NPCs and creatures are super easy to create using a simple process. Creatures are divided into 10 levels, which have predefined characteristics. Choose a level, then a creature type, their unique features, and you’re done! This method allows you to create millions of creature combinations very quickly. Each book also offers hundreds of unique creature templates broken up into various types that can be further customised, saving time for the GM on the go.
