MAPPA is taking up Vinland Saga for season two, instead of Wit Studio, in a battle that reminds me of the Attack of Titan transfer.
Vinland is about Thornfinn (who is inspired by a real-life person) of the bloody and brutal life of Vikings raiding the yet-to-be United Kingdom. The story blends in elements of real-life warriors and kings.
Amazon Prime had season one when I watched it in the UK. Finding it wasn’t a fluke, I tracked down the show after it won Best Drama in the 2000 Anime Awards.
Season two will stream worldwide on Netflix, except in China, and it will also be on Crunchyroll, except in Asia.
The manga started in 2005 and ran until 2019, with some 7 million copies being published.
IMDB sums up the clever and time-spanning plot as;
Thorfinn pursues a journey with his father’s killer in order to take revenge and end his life in a duel as an honorable warrior and pay his father a homage.
