Following the world premiere at L.A.’s Animation is Film Festival this year, and ahead of the January launch in Japan, the anime Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom has released a new trailer.
The trailer is the first chance to hear the theme song “Brand New World” by Kotone,
Madhouse is helming the project with Btooom! director Kotono Watanabe. The manga, which came top of the ‘Female Readers list’ in the 2017 edition of the Thing Manga is Amazing! guidebook, is the story of two kingdoms with an uneasy and shaky relationship.
By chance, a princess from one country must pretend to be in a relationship with a man from the other to keep the peace.
There’s definitely an awkward moment in the trailer where the one burqa-wearing character seems to be tossing a bomb. Still, we don’t know the context, and at least there’s a character in a burqa.
