Jeff Mejia initially published Dicey Tales as a digest-sized expansion for Simon Washbourne’s Barbarians of Lemuria. Now the RPG designer is on Kickstarter to raise funds for an expanded second edition.
There’s more than a month on the clock for Dicey Tales, ironically taking a slow but steady route to Kickstarter. As it happens, that’s been a cautious approach. The campaign is nearly funded, and you can see whether Mejia has crossed the funding line on the pitch page.
Barbarians of Lemuria tends to be used for swords and sorcery games, but Dicey Tales is all about pulp. That’s more than one setting, ranging from ancient times to the bare-knuckle brawlers of the 1930s.
A funded project would mean a full-colour book with careers, boons, flaws and firearms rules for the system. There would also be rules for powers and vehicles. DriveThruRPG and their printing partners are being used to offer PDF and physical copies of the final RPG.
We also provide hints and suggestions for running a game and playing a character in a genre where good fights evil, and a team of talented adventurers can stand up against any peril with just grit, teamwork, and a fighting spirit.
You can back the indie RPG project by sharing it on social media, and for $1, you’ll get updates on the campaign. Backers who can contribute $10 or more will also get a PDF of the final book as a thank you.
At $15, backers will get a print-on-demand coupon for the softback. However, these backers will still need to pay the printing and shipping costs.
At $21, that coupon becomes one for the hardback version.
There’s a January 2023 delivery estimate and a tier for retailers.
