Supporting the release of the official D&D Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen, there’s a free-to-download Monstrous Compendium Volume Two: Dragonlance Monsters.
The download, hosted by Wizards of the Coast’s D&D Beyond, contains 11 extra monsters.
The Monstrous Compendium is a different monster manual and useful if you missed the original one, which was Spelljammer-themed, extra if not. It’s free, but you need a D&D Beyond account for access, that’s free too, and WotC’s goal here is to get you into their system while rewarding those already there.
Volume 2 of The Monstrous Compendium features numerous famous monsters and NPCs ranging from pitiful to formidable. Verminaard, the Dragon Highlord, is among them. Then there are the terrifying Dream Eaters, who come from the dream-warped elven realm of Silvanesti. These CR 7 nightmares threaten to engage and endanger the entire party with an engulfing ability that damages everyone trapped in it.
There are also a lot of high-level creatures in the package. Ember, also known as Pyros, is the highest. Ember is a cruel, haughty red dragon who serves Takhisis, the Dragon Queen. He is currently the “adviser” to Dragon Highlord Verminaard. But that is not a role for which the huge dragon, empowered by Takhisis, is cut out.
