I’ve not seen season one of The Fruit of Evolution, but part two, which uses the long name The Fruit of Evolution 2: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made, looks to squeeze in all the anime tropes imaginable.
Watch how this trailer eases through styles, characters and familiar patterns!
Series 2 debuts in Japan on January 13th and on TV Tokyo before streaming in dAnime Store. Crunchyroll had streamed season one.
It seems hard to match series 1’s synopsis with the trailer for series 2, but Crunchyroll describe the anime;
High school student Hiiragi Seiichi is bullied by his classmates for being a “loser.” One day, his entire school is suddenly transported to a video game-like world of swords and sorcery. When he accidentally eats “the Fruit of Evolution,” his life as a successful “winner” begins.
Crucially, the anime sparks into life when Seiichi is approached by a gorilla, who, instead of attacking him, proposes to him. After Seiichi muses, “I guess a gorilla is fine too,” they find the Fruit of Evolution, and when they consume it, their lives are forever transformed.
