Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki. The story follows Kazuma Satou, a teenage boy who dies embarrassingly and is sent to an alternate world as a reward for his service in life.
In this world, he meets Aqua, a goddess who offers him the chance to be reborn in the alternate world and form a party of adventurers with her and two other comrades, the arch-wizard Megumin and the crusader Darkness.
The story follows the party’s misadventures as they try to make a living as adventurers while also dealing with the various problems that arise in the alternate world. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about life and friendship and face multiple monsters and supernatural forces.
An Explosion on This Wonderful World! picks up with Crimson mage Megumin (who is quirky but less problematic than Darkness) and follows her earlier life at wizard school.
Yen Press have the English novel rights and describes the story;
My name is…
One year before a certain useless goddess and NEET extraordinaire hit the scene, Megumin, the “Greatest Genius of the Crimson Magic Clan,” is hard at work. Ever since a life-changing encounter in her youth, the young wizard has dedicated her every waking moment to the pursuit of the ultimate offensive magic, Explosion! (Well…every moment not spent hustling food from her self-proclaimed rival.) And while the big sister’s away, the little one will play. On a routine trip into the woods, Megumin’s little sister, Komekko, finds a strange black kitten. Little does she know that this cat plays a key role in unsealing a Dark God’s tomb…
Studio Drive is working on the third season of the original KONOSUBA and the explosive spin-off.
