The anime is based on Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel game series.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is a role-playing game which follows the story of Rean Schwarzer, a student at the Thors Military Academy, who, with his classmates, embarks on a journey to discover the truth behind a hidden political conspiracy.

The game features an expansive turn-based battle system and a range of side activities, such as fishing and cooking. Players can customize their characters using a deep character customization system and build relationships with other characters in the game. The story is told through multiple perspectives, and the game features multiple endings.

The anime will air in Japan on the 8th of January, and Crunchyroll will steam it simultaneously.
