Adventurers of Combat & Quest! Intro Edition will, if funded, give gaming groups and solo TTRPGers a game of seven characters that will dungeon crawl up to level 3.
A GM is optional; if you’re hardcore, you can play the tactical game yourself. The campaign has a target of $250 to fund, and you can see progress on the pitch page.
The game premiered at Con on the Cob, and this version comes in at about 60 pages.
Adventurers of Combat & Quest! is inspired by computer games like Diablo and Torchlight as well as some dungeon crawl OSR games. According to Flying Monster Games, that means;
Treasure tables that provide randomized loot, a storyline that is about smashing that evil scourge that has infested the world, and gives players the ability to create randomized encounters quickly to continue players’ questing. The design philosophy is to minimize the amount of time required for a player to setup and get an adventure going and let players slay in style. With the DM being optional.
A dungeon crawl is a role-playing game where players explore a dungeon, battle monsters, and collect treasures. Players typically travel through a dungeon linearly, fighting monsters and solving puzzles to reach the end. The game’s goal is usually to find a specific item or complete a specific task to win.
A pledge of $4 is enough to unlock the PDF Intro Edition, and there’s no print version planned.
At higher levels, backers get to design things – such as a unique item (at $35) or a monster ($50) or even a boss-level encounter ($75). These co-design options are limited in number.
The game is slated for delivery in February 2023.
