I’ll admit to mixed feelings watching Netflix’s latest Sword of the Wizard King trailer. I bet I’m not alone.
I was disappointed when the series was cancelled. It leaves the Clover Kingdom in the middle of significant events. More Black Clover is coming, but it’s a feature-length from Netflix, but the part of my brain which wants consistent canon isn’t sure how to parse things. When is this set? What does this mean? My emotional investment in the characters is challenged.
It’s not a huge chance, but it’s not zero, of Netflix’s foray into Black Clover sparking enough interest to show the data-chomping-wizards at the streaming platform, it will make sense to invest in the show.
If they make that decision, we might still not get regular anime picking up from where the old series was cut. We might get more one-offs.
The new Black Clover is due in March, and the holding page is live on Netflix. There’s still no more on the synopsis, but here’s what we’ve been given so far, thanks to a spot by @Nite_Baron.
As Asta keeps gaining merit on his way to becoming the Wizard King, the previous Wizard King Conrad, who had been feared as evil and sealed away, along with three previous Wizard Kings appear. Having been revived with the Imperial Sword, their goal is to destroy Clover Kingdom. The boy who dreams of becoming the Wizard King vs. Previous Wizard Kings!! A fierce battle involving all the magic knights has begun over the Wizard King.”
