I think every Cthulhu project would be wise to a statement disowning Lovecraft’s racism, and Vermillion Craft does not.
However, this is all about the aesthetic, and while it begins with bookmarks, I think the most alluring accessories are the hardback corners to protect your books. You can check out the images for yourself or pledge from the pitch page.
On offer are a series of foiled bookmarks decorated with dark swirls and occult-vibe patterns, a suede pouch to keep them in and hardcover corner protectors.
As a former travelling GM, I see this as a kit to project books while you travel, organise yourself while prepping, and run a horror RPG.
There are eight double-sized bookmarks 6cm by 12cm. The designs are;
- Azathoth
- Cthulhu
- Color Out of Space
- Hastur
- H.P. Lovecraft
- Nyarlathotep
- Shub-Niggurath
- Yog-Sothoth
Made from antique bronze-shade metal, these corner guards have a long service life. Both sides are carved with the abstract shape of an octopus, vaguely representing Cthulhu’s appearance. The carvings are smooth and clear, showing fine craftsmanship.
Backers at $10 will be rewarded with the leather pouch, and I think that’s good value, and there’s worldwide shipping available.
At $14, backers get five sets of book corners as their reward. That’s 20 pieces, and I think that’s great value.
All eight gold bookmarks are the reward for backers who can pledge $24 ins support; alternatively, you can get the set in silver. This is a more popular tier so far.
Can’t decide? You can get both sets of bookmarks and the pouch for $48.
There are some neat add-ons as well, including this Rainy in R’lyeh umbrella which I’d absolutely love but can’t justify paying $100 for ahead of its certain death in the Scottish weather.
Impressively, Vermillion Craft suggests they can ship all these tiers next month.
