There are over 50 RPG supplements and accessories from James Mishler Games on DriveThruRPG right now. Later, they’ll all be deleted.
James explains;
I have no desire to publish new products for game lines that might be forced to disappear overnight.
The publisher will go on hiatus until the OGL debacle clears up, and it may never do so. As it stands now, Wizards of the Coast will deauthorise the original OGL.
However, there is a way forward for JMG and the designer who still loves BX Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D and Labyrinth Lord.
Starting on the 27th and running to February the 24th, there will be a 23% off all JMG products. The sale will end early if Hasbro pushes out the new OGL before then.
After the 24th, or when the new OGL becomes real, James Mishler will delete everything on DriveThruRPG.
A placeholder will remain in place as Dan Proctor is working on a new and OGL-less version of Labyrinth Lord; James has said he’ll always support Dan.
Additionally, Kelsey Dionne is also working on an OGL-less version of Shadowdark, and James has pledged a similar commitment to Kelsey’s games.
As for Hasbro? James says;
I will never support Hasbro or Dungeons & Dragons again.
How does the announcement end?
Long reign the Age of the ORC.
That’s a reference to the Paizo-led Open RPG Creative License and an alliance of over 1,500 publishers. ORC will be an alternative to Hasbro’s new deal.
