A statement from Marvel has confirmed August, a slight delay, for their core Multiverse RPG. The playtest rules, which are not free, have been out for a while.
Marvel Multiverse: Role-Playing Game: Cataclysm Of Kang, also by Matt Forbeck, the previously announced campaign set is available to pre-order and also due in August.
There’s no reason given for the delay, and it is not a significant one, and instead, Marvel announced an X-Men Expansion due in 2024. The comic book publisher said;
This is the first full-sized sourcebook for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game, and features the most uncanny Super Heroes of all: the X-Men and all their various spin-off teams, greatest allies and most fearsome foes.
The X-Men Expansion is jammed full of vital information about Marvel’s most popular mutants, including dozens of new profiles for characters from X-Force, the New Mutants and Marauders. It also includes full-color maps of famous X-Men locations, including the Xavier Institute, Krakoa and Arakko, plus plenty of thrilling twists and turns for an entire campaign. Answer the call and join the X-Men!
The author, artist and others in the X-Men Expansion team have not yet been announced but Marvel say they’ll reveal those details soon.
Marvel Multiverse: Role-Playing Game is not part of January’s OGL dram, using its all-new d616 system. That’s a reference to the 616 universe from the comic book canon.
