Facility uses the Breathless RPG engine, with a Creative Commons SRD, to tell the story of amnesiac prisoners escaping a bizarre mechanical labyrinth.
Part of Zine Quest, helmed by Galen Pejeau, the project started with two weeks on the clock, has about ten days left and has over $3,000 in pledges. The target was $1,000; you can see the latest tally on Kickstarter.
The RPG needs a GM and suits one or more players. Characters have no memories or special powers and are trapped in a hostile maze of machines and dimensional weirdness.
With the Breathless system, you get weaker each time you roll dice with a downgrade of ability. You can stop and catch your breath, but in Facility, doing so means your mechanical Nemesis gets closer.
Sent by the shadowy proctors that run the Facility, each of the eight Nemesis machines acts as the primary antagonist of the test subjects, with eight different styles of hunting and killing. They are vicious, they are relentless, and they will never stop coming after your subjects until they are destroyed.
You can help this project by telling friends about it and pledging cash. However, backers who pledge $7 or more will get a PDF copy of Facility as a reward.
At $15, backers get a physical copy of the zine RPG, and Galen is offering worldwide shipping.
That’s it. Those two are the reward tiers, and the shipping estimate is December 2023.
