Are you seeing much hype for season three of The Mandalorian? Retailers are, and geeky site Merchoid has had to take the unusual step of emailing blogs to say they’ve sold out of some Mando merch. Typically, bloggers get told about the merch retailers really need to shift.
It’s not the low-cost gear running out, either! The £129.99 Black Series Mandalorian Death Watch Electronic Helmet has gone, and the £125.99 Black Series The Mandalorian Premium Electronic Helmet is down to the last 10.
Update: Sold 9 while I writing this post; 1 left!
Merchoid’s Michelle Kelly explained that the online debate is about the possible clash between Din and Bo-Katan, with the Darksaber in the middle. It might not be which one claims the Darksaber but whom the Darksaber wants.
Michelle told geeky blogs;
While some superfans aren’t quite ready to forgive and forget the misdeeds of the Boba Fett series, the chatter we’re seeing and hearing around the latest Mandalorian trailer is overwhelmingly positive. We don’t think it’s going to be a hard fight for Mando S3 to return to glory, though we don’t expect the same to be true of Bo-Katan’s desire to round up ‘unfinished business’…
We know that we’ll be seeing more of Mandalore this series, and insiders have confirmed that Din Djarin’s quest for redemption is going to show us what’s really become of The Living Waters. But with leaked set footage also hinting at Bo-Katan Kryze as the season’s main antagonist, all bets are off as to who will be in possession of the Darksaber when we reach the finale.
Given there’s a Bo-Katan Kryze series set to grace our screens in future, consensus among Team Merchoid is that we’re more likely to see Din and Bo-Katan united by the end of S3 than stuck in an ongoing face-off. The real question is not about who is going to win, take or keep hold of the Darksaber – it’s who is the Darksaber going to choose?
Let’s not forget that Bo-Katan’s previous acceptance of the Darksaber as a gift (as shown in Star Wars Rebels), not won in battle, is what most believe caused her subsequent efforts as leader to become cursed. Meanwhile Din won it fair and square, but then tried to give it away – and now the Darksaber will continue to fight against him unless he can demonstrate that he’s ready to fight for the good of Mandalore and its ways.
Those trying to look into their Star Wars crystal ball need to stop focusing on Bo-Katan and what she will or won’t do to return to the position of Mand’alor, and start mulling what the Darksaber is going to be looking for in its next guardian.”
