City of Mists is a superb urban fantasy tabletop RPG with more focus on words than numbers, and Son of Oak Game Studio is on Kickstarter to expand it.
City of Mist: Local Legends had a $30K goal, and with more than three weeks still to earn backers, the project is 4x now with more than $130K in pledges. You can see the tally tick up on the pledge page.
The game world, the city of mist, is a detective noir supernatural, yet most people there don’t know. Legends are real except reborn into people, and the Mist hides this. It’s not a real knight charging into battle, and that guy is a drunk back from a fancy dress party.

As the campaign is funded, unless something goes pear-shaped, we can now expect Local Legends as a new supplement for the core rules.
The expansion adds details for Chinatown and another district in the dangerous city that backers will get to pick.
New One-Shot Cases will be added, playable characters, map and clues, dice, cards and even a soundtrack.

You can support the project by sharing it on social media or contributing cash. Backers who get to US19 will be thanked with the Local Legends digital expansion and stretch goals, including PDF and Codex App updates.
The hardcover with worldwide shipping is added to the rewards for backers at $39.
The digital bundle at $59 once again PDF and App, adds the All-Seeing Eye Investigations starter set, the core set, the “Into the Mist” expansion, Character Folio, Location Maps, Character and Theme cards, Legend cards, two villains and two soundtracks.
At $89, backers get the Vigilante slipcase set which includes the Local Legends hardcover, eight new character folios, a crime map with blues and the physical stretch goals. The PDF and App updates are included where appropriate.
Then it’s a big jump to $179 for the Vigilante slipcase with the core set. That latter means if you need the physical City of Mist rule book, cards, and toolkits, you get them at this tier.
It’s not the last big jump, but at $299, you’ll get everything. So, what’s higher? $999 for a Creator offer which gets you everything and a custom-made Local Legends NPC complete with art design. There’s even a t-shirt or wall poster for you with your character on it. This tier, even at $999, is selling out.
Designer Amit Moshe and team estimate a digital delivery in November this year and a physical one in a year when February 2024 rolls around.
