Civilizations unimaginable rose and collapsed in the hazy recesses of antiquity before the elder elves, dwarven ancestor rulers, and even dragons. The Ancients commanded magnificent science that most people equate with god. The Ancients journeyed to distant worlds, changed the terrain, created intelligent devices, and harnessed the universe’s building blocks. They’re no longer there, but they left behind remnants: citadels of metal, glass, and light, now locked away in the world’s deepest recesses, and constructed wonders and harnessed energies we can only speculate about. These places, items, and even beings have names among the few learned folks aware of them. This Ancient Arcana is known as the “Numenera.”
