Baldur’s Gate meets a VTT and runs in your browser. A campaign from RPGWanderer uses 5e in a solo RPG, with a free first chapter, D&D’s mechanics and a choose-your-system.
The campaign has set a target of CA$50,000, about £30,500 and is freshly launched today. You can find out more on the project page.
You can experience the first chapter for free at RPGWanderer.com.
What’s a chapter? It’s a question worthy of answer as the chapters after the first won’t be free. The first chapter of Tides of Murkport will be;
- 390 narrative pages
- 4 pieces of music
- 30 or more illustrations or maps
- An in-game journey to keep track of who you have met and where you have been
- An introductory adventure
- Four in-game stores
- 30+ big decisions in the narrative tree
- About three hours of gameplay
Tides of Murkport is our first module. Dark fantasy and nautical themes, with a splash of cosmic horror. The adventure will feature eight chapters and will see your party of 2 to 4 characters influence and tangle with various factions, face the Wetlands’ full roster of horrifying homebrew creatures and progress from 1st to 7th level.
Backers at CA$20, about £13, will get access to chapters one through four, Act 1, credit as a backer and HD wallpaper.
Those supporters who can pledge CA$40 get full access to the game – no matter how large it gets, a Backer Discord role and premium in-game dice.
Doubling again to CA$80 takes supporters to a tier that adds a digital edition of the concept art book, the soundtrack and a miniatures pack of eight. Physical stuff? Yup, with worldwide shipping.
Spot the trend, CA$160 adds a passcode for a friend, a cameo in the game, a vinyl record and a different Discord role.
CA$320 levels in more passes for friends, a limited edition artbook and stretch goals.
Then, at the top, breaking the x2 pattern and limited to 10, is the CA$1,000 tier which gets you a custom illustration of your party in Murkport and the design of an NPC.
RPGWanderer has the first Act slated for May 2023 and the physical goodies for December.
