Dinoberry Press uses one of my favourite words to describe their latest RPG project. They’ve gone with “visceral” to describe the tabletop RPG “You’re In Space And Everything’s Fucked”.
Do they live up to that promise? That’s a TBC as “You’re In Space And Everything’s Fucked” is a Kickstarter campaign which has just pushed through the target ask of $28,400, with three weeks left to back the game.
The campaign’s success means Dinoberry Press is committed to trying their best to complete two books, one 64-pages long for the Station and another 40-pages long for the Struggler, and we’ll find out what they are in just a bit.
Or, you can jump straight to the demo and try out the RPG for yourself.
The game is for 2 to 5 players, one playing as the hostile space itself while the rest are the survivors. It’s an RPG inspired by games like Dead Space and System Shock and, of course, the iconic Alien movie.
You’re in Space and Everything’s Fucked is no-prep as you can dive straight in and complete the Station as you go with a random generation of the ship and of space-age monsters.
There’s plenty of death as The Struggler revives at a Save Point (only to find everything’s changed).
Your steps echo down the once-pristine halls of the GSV Capital Galivant, your waypoint leading you in the direction of what’s supposed to be a cache of supplies, maybe even a friendly face. You can hear horrible klaxons in the distant parts of the sector you’re in, and gurgling, monstrous screams moving closer. Something with too many limbs darts across the end of the corridor, thankfully without noticing you.
You know you probably won’t survive another run-in with one of those things, not with your arm in the state it’s in. You catch yourself letting out a sign of relief.
You just need to get to the waypoint. You just need to survive. You just need to make it.
There are some quirky add-ons for this RPG, including but not limited to pomegranate gore beard balm or lip balm.
There are pledges to watch or make contact as a retailer, but the first backer tier to generate a reward is the $30 level. Pledge $30 or more; you’ll be thanked with a PDF copy of both books.
At $60, that reward also includes the print edition of both books, and Dinoberry Press offers worldwide shipping.
The print editions of You’re in Space and Everythings Fucked are upgraded to hardback at $90. There are 100 limited editions, half of which are already gone to backers at $150. That limited edition tier includes a dice set, tin, ID badge, sticker set and skull pin.
There are other limited tiers at $300 for monster design and $600 for a play session with Dinoberry.
Backers, all going to plan, won’t have a long wait. The PDF edition is slated for June release; the print will be later in August.
