Everyday Heroes publisher is running a competition to reboot Urban Arcana; it begins with a 200-word pitch and will end with the winner $5,000 better off and receiving full professional credit.
David Scott, the owner, has confirmed to Geek Native that applicants who reach the latter stages of the competition will be paid $100 as well.
What will Urban Arcana become?
Urban Arcana is a modern magical world featuring the origin of magic and intertwined with the destiny of elder races like elves, dwarves, and halflings.
In this refreshed world, the impossible is possible. Competition applications get to ask questions like;
- How did magic originate?
- Was it a godsend or a failed experiment?
Evil Genius wants world-crafters with ideas that examine magic’s origins and its impact on the present world and its inhabitants. How have the ancient ancients changed, and what is their role today? The competition entries should explore these ancient beings’ difficulties and successes and their relationship with their current world.
The competition is open from March 20th, and applications have until April 20th, 2023, to hit submit.
There will be 10 semi-finalists announced on May 5th, and those selected will then be invited to submit a 1,000-word paid submission. That entry has from May 8th to June 9th to be written.
Fans get a vote, too, picking from the three finalists from June 26th through to July 14th, with the final winner announced on August 3rd.
DriveThruRPG has several bestseller badges on Evil Genius products, and that’s a range which includes both the movie-licensed The Crow and Escape from New York adventures.
