Free League have Kickstarted 32 projects! The latest is The Walking Dead Universe RPG, which has 4, 700+ backers already and more than £360,000 pledged.
We’ll look at how this compares to other projects in just a bit, but here’s the video pitch for the partnership game with AMC Networks. You can back it on the project page.
Kickstarter monitoring station Kicktraq does not have enough data to make a projection for The Walking Dead; it’s too new. The trend is towards KR21,513,731 SEK after four days of data. The current tally, in SEK, is 4,680,000 or so.
In comparison, and Kicktraq only plots a rough graph, Dragonbane was closer to 6m SEK, Blade Runner was at 12m SEK but the Lord of the Rings RPG The One Ring at about 8m SEK and Twilight: 2000 less than 3m SEK.
Or, if you’d rather know about the zombie RPG then Free League tells us that Tales from the Loop and Vaesen’s Nils Hintze is designing with Alien and Blade Runner’s Joe LeFavi producing. The game is about characters facing hard choices, meeting familiar faces and discovering memorable locations while learning about themselves.
As with the Alien RPG, there are two modes of play in The Walking Dead Universe roleplaying game, campaign mode and survival mode. The campaign mode is a more traditional RPG model, and you might hope your character survives for a while. In contrast, survival is unlikely in survival mode as it’s more pre-determined and closely intertwined with the deadly TV series.
Free League also says that backers will get early access to the core rules and starter set in PDF shortly after the Kickstarter ends.
For backers, the digital edition is a reward for those who can contribute SEK 298 (£24) or more. The Walking Dead Universe RPG digital edition tier includes the core rulebook, the starter set and stretch goals.
The Starter Set tier, which unlocks at Walking Dead pledge of SEK 348, which unsurprisingly includes the starter set in print and PDF, also has the digital core rules with stretch goals.
SEK 498 (£39) is the tier at which the standard edition of the core rules unlocks, with the PDFs for the starter set and a digital copy of the main book.
It’s SEL 798 for physical copies of both, with PDFs coming along too.
Of course, the mention of ‘standard edition’ for the core rules suggests there’s a deluxe or collector’s edition. There’s a deluxe The Walking Dead RPG edition added to backers who can climb to SEK 1,298 (about £102).
The estimated delivery for all the tiers is in November this year, which is quick, and shipping will be calculated later.
