The initial license deal between Nightfall and Studiocanal for the Terminator RPG included Dark Horse comics, the first movie but not Arnie’s face nor the sequels.
That’s changed. A new press release from Nightfall confirms the T2 license and the Kickstarter for The Terminator RPG: T2 Judgment Day is up and funded already.
Playable Terminators are coming as a result of the expansion. Also in the 200-page book will be;
- T-1000 rules.
- Time Displacement Cammandos, the Resistance’s elite troops.
- 1990s setting, just before the fall of humanity.
- Time zone rules; for the past and future war.
- Character and NPC options for Sarah and John Connor, Miles Dyson, the “Uncle Bob” T-800.
- A Terminator 2: Judgement Day mission pack.
Benn Graybeaton, Rules Director of Nightfall Games and Producer of the ‘T2: Judgment Day” sourcebook told the press;
It is a joy to bring the team back together, Andrew E.C. Gaska and the entire writing team are back, as are Dave Allsop’s art team. We have got a lot more cool to add…not least of all, playable T-800s and the ultimate ‘cool’ T-1000.”
James Cameron established the Terminator series, which has become a science fiction media franchise with action films, comic books, novels, and other media. In the near future, there’s an all-out war between Skynet’s synthetic intelligence – a self-aware military machine network – and John Connor’s Resistance forces made up of human survivors.
At the Terminator story’s core is the struggle for survival between the virtually extinct human race and Skynet, the world-spanning synthetic intelligence.
In the first film, The Terminator, Skynet is positioned as a U.S. strategic “Global Digital Defense Network” computer system by Cyberdyne Systems that becomes self-aware. The growth of AI and its scary potential is highly relevant today. In the series, Skynet regards all humans as threatening its life shortly after activation. The result? Skynet devises a plan to wipe out humanity systematically.
As usual, supporters and fans can support the crowdfunding campaign by sharing it around, boosting media coverage, or investing money into the project.
Backers who pledge £14 or more will get a PDF copy of the T2: Judgement Day: Sourcebook and appropriate stretch goals.
At £40, backers get the book in hardback as well. Nightfall can ship worldwide.
After this tier, there are some exclusives. £80 gets the Iced T-1000 cover, The Terminator RPG dice and a tin set with a travel dice tray.
Uncle Bob is the £120 tier, dropping the exclusive cover, keeping the dice and trays and adding hardbacks for the previous The Terminator RPG books.
Add-ons are available, and Nightfall estimates a delivery of November this year for the book.
