Stellara Books looks to blend sexuality and creativity tastefully. Diving straight in, the publisher has launched their first Kickstarter with a 5e book called Kinks and Cantrips.
Already funded, Kinks and Cantrips pitches a sourcebook about exploring yourself and learning your kink. There’s adult art in the Kickstarter pitch.
210 pages of D&D 5e material offers to talk about sexual kinks, including bondage to gentle domination, from A/B/O to teratophilia, and from asexuality to polyamory. How many poly people would describe their chosen life as a kink, though?
Specifically, Kinks and Cantrips has game mechanics for;
- Pain and Pleasure.
- The Escapologist class and 26 new sub-classes. There’s no mention of the pun in sub-classes but there’s the Slinglash Conclave Ranger who uses her latex-like ooze as a slingshot.
- There are new species and one new lineage, including the furfolk.
- Kinks and Cantrips offers 80 new spells and 50 new kink-related magic items.
- 50 monsters and yes, those have a kink-theme too.
- There’s the campaign setting of Bundheim which is heavy with BDSM in the culture.
- 5 new backgrounds such as the Curious Explorer.
Can you take a sneak peek? A voyeuristic look at the content of the book? Yes, there’s a sample PDF on Dropbox.
Not everyone is comfortable openly playing with kink themed 5e content, but many might wish to use the rules found in this book in their normal games. For this there is also the Curious Explorer’s Guide to Bundheim, a translation of all possible material in the book into a non-sexually themed form. Not all material will make the jump to the Curious Explorer’s guide, but as many classes, spells, feats, items, and monsters will be made available as possible. This version of the rules is intended to be succinct but shareable, thus allowing their use in “vanilla” games.
Kinks and Cantrips is a digital-focused campaign that you can help by sharing or pledging cash.
Backers who pledge $15 or more will get the book as a PDF and ePub and an at-cost print-on-demand copy. There’s also the Curious Explorer’s Guide to Bundheim in PDF.
The option to adopt an NPC has sold out but the $450 Patron of the Arts tier is open for which you get the books described above and the chance to help design a specific piece of art for the book.
Stellara Books estimate Kinks and Cantrips will be available in December. Perhaps it could be a Christmas gift.
