I’m almost exclusively a theatre of the mind roleplayer, yet I’m tempted by Dungeon Pop’s pop-up books on tabletop terrain.
I’m not alone as the $10,000 goal has been left in the dust, hundreds of backers taking the campaign already to nearly $60,000 and there’s about a month left to run on Kickstarter.
There are a few maps with the pop-up set of maps.
There’s the Telltale Tavern with;
- Great Room with Tables, Bar and Hearth
- Storage Room with Hidden Trapdoor
- Sleeping Quarters with Two Beds
- Front Awning, Storage Crates and Rear Stable
- Mini Pops (x3): Trees, Bushes & Old Well.
The Broken Tower with;
- 3 Separate Floors to Utilize and Explore
- Large Wooden Staircase with Multiple Levels
- Interactive Stone Walls that Lift and Lower
- 5+ Tower Entrances for Dynamic Encounters
- Mini Pops (x3): Withered Tree, Wooden Wagon, & Pile o’ Crates
And the Forsaken Ruins with;
- Elevated Summoning Alter Designed for Massive BBEG Encounters
- 2 Walkways For Multilevel Combat and Exploration
- Large Wooden Staircase with Multiple Levels
- 9+ Entrances on Multiple Levels for Dynamic Encounters
- Mini Pops (x3): 2 Broken Buildings & Campsite with Tents
Backers get access to the pledge manager with just a $1 commitment, although sharing the news also helps.
A digital version which contains the blueprints, as such, is there as a reward for people with $24 handy.
It’s just a step to $28 for the Traveler level and the option to pick any one pop battle map for a thank you.
The hero set, $68, is the first tier with all the physical rewards and stretch goals, but shipping is worked out later.
After that, $128 gets two sets, $188 for three, and it’s up to $368 for six sets. People are backing the campaign that highly, and it’ll be because you can put these 3d battle maps together to make towns and whole battlegrounds.
Dungeon Pops estimate a delivery of December 2023 for the campaign. All of a sudden, that feels very soon!
