David Schirduan, the talent behind indie RPG publisher Technical Grimoire, has assembled a team for a Troika setting. John Gregory, Furtive Goblin, Hannah Strang et al are involved.
The pastoral liminal RPG setting of Bridgetown is a never-ending, ever-crumbling bridge that connects all Troika spheres together. It’s funded on Kickstarter, did so in one day and has hundreds of backers.
Trokia is free to download, and Bridgetown is intended to be a setting for the RPG, but it can be adapted to other OSRs.
If the project delivers everything promised, there will be a hardcover book, an A3 poster map, dice and… wait, a balm? Apparently so.
The book will be an A5 digest, 100+ pages and be in colour to be desirable and luxurious collectable. The book will have 12 backgrounds, the same number of locations, 8 gatehouses, a campaign, random tables, spells and a provision-based economy.
Pastoral: Upstart humans ply their trades on cobbled streets amid hoary old Trolls and restless, goateed Gruffolk, while huddles of little Coblins scurry underfoot. Metal is rare, stone is crumbling, and fertile soil is one of the most valuable commodities.
Liminal: The Bridge is a narrow band of solid ground straddling the gap between the Infinite Sky above and the murky depths of the Under. It is a dizzying and impossible world, but it is home to you and countless others.
The pledges start at an earlier tier with $15 offering Bridgetown PDF and an HTML version.
Jumping to $30 is enough to unlock the hardcover, poster map, and the digital version of the game.
There are no add-ons or stretch goals, and some tiers have sold out, but the $50 top unlimited tier remains and offers Bones Deep in hardcover and PDF.
The sold-out tier means the dice and balm, which turns out to be for beards, are out of reach.
Backers won’t have too long to wait as the PDF is due out in July, with the hardback estimated in August.
