Don’t Hurt Birds is a publisher based in Scotland’s Glasgow, neighbour to Geek Native’s HQ of Edinburgh, and the publisher of Marrowbreak.
If the Kickstarter is successful, and it’s more than halfway there, Marrowbreak will be a tabletop RPG of warped reflections and of something trying to be a city. You can find out more from the pitch page.
Marrowbreak is a dungeon-heist system with a focus on teamwork that makes that possible with a PDF, Hardback, merch and worldbuilding influence on offer.
The system uses pools of d12 with 7s or above counting as success and repeating numbers making results more dramatic.
So you know those cracks in the world, yeah? And you know how they seethe with vertigo, the faint scent of lavender, and a strange roiling void? And how sometimes the strange roiling voidstuff overflows and floods out into the street and swallows up basements and throws everything in its path down into the Weird reflection of the City below? Yeah, that’s a marrowbreak. Nasty stuff. Leave it too long and the Weird starts thinking you’re part of it, or maybe you start thinking you’re part of the Weird. Hard to say for sure but never a good time either way.
A PDF edition is a reward for backers at £16, and the hardback is also added at £36.
There’s a deluxe bundle at £50, which ads an art print and an enamel badge.
Beyond that, the tiers are limited in number and with £85 getting people get a foil alt-colour print and the option to create a Petty Saint. £150, and the world creation bonus becomes a beast.
An alternative, one of 30 only, alternative hardback cover unlocks at £250.
However, the top tier is £400, which offers not just one of the super rare hardbacks but all the world creation options.
The team of Mads Schubert, Athar Fikry and Glasgow’s Jessica Crimes, the designer, estimate a delivery of February 2024 for the project.
