There is an official free license for Dragonbane from Free League that lets publishers create third-party material for the game.
Jonathon Myhre’s Goldmound just happens to be the first I’ve seen. The crowdfunding project has an unscripted video pitch, and typos in the story but over 60 backers on Kickstarter with a month to go.
Jonathon’s pitch is that there are still parts of the Misty Vales that are to be fleshed out or explored by players in Dragonbane. The creator also promises to write several more adventure modules for the area.
There’s a mini-mega dungeon in the works, and that progress can be watched on Patron or YouTube.
While this is Jonathon’s fourth Kickstarter, we’re not given any page count, or any more art except the notice he’ll be using Midjourney to create the illustrations for the finished project.
Perhaps not that slick, but with three under his belt already, I doubt there would be so many backers if previous outputs were terrible.
I’m a Game Master and I’ve been making / creating monsters, equipment, spells, characters, entire worlds full of adventure. Why not try to get paid for it? Hopefully, as long as everything goes correctly, by the end of this year, I will have another Kickstarter on here for my Tome of Monsters book.
Backers at $1 get the complete Goldmound adventure module.
There’s also the option to leap up to $20 and create a magic item with Jonathon. Other tiers have sold out.
When is all this likely to be out? In just a few weeks, in June 2023.
