Sweet Reincarnation’s latest trailer opens the same way as the first did, with a dead chef and a growing puddle.
It’s an isekai which means our dead chef reincarnates into a fantasy world and, as a young boy, could become a great hero. The Sweet Reincarnation twist is that rather than waving swords around, our hero (called Pastry!) is more interested in waving whisks around.
I think it’s far more wholesome and natural to be more interested in cooking and providing for friends and family than swordplay. Once that thought made it through my geeky skull, I’m suddenly a bit awkward about Sweet Reincarnation.
I hope Team Sweet Reincarnation agrees! If they do then this could be an exciting anime but the risk is they play an interest in providing tempting treats over an interest in killing people as weird and freakish behaviour.
I could download the Kindle now from Amazon, as there are many volumes there. Published by J-Novel Club, the synopsis is;
Pastry Mille Morteln, age 9, is both his father’s heir and the reincarnation of an unfulfilled pastry chef. While he dreams of a land filled with sweet treats, there’s a lot to be done first! From learning how to fight, to controlling his new magical talents and doing his best to defend his village from bandits, and yet all he really wants to do is bake the perfect apple pie… Pastry Mille Morteln has his work cut out for him in Sweet Reincarnation.
The books have 11 reviews on Amazon, most 5/5 but one 1/5. It does sound like while wholesome baking trailers with food it might end up in a magic hero battle as so many do.
