The Corpse Exquisite team have returned to Kickstarter for a system-agnostic grimdark RPG toolkit called Inquisitor Kada’s Exquisite Corpse. The campaign is to fund a product to help GMs build an RPG world with a dissociative inquisitor.
Right, that’s me back from the dictionary, and that tells me dissociative is about memory, identity, emotion and perception. There’s a free preview link below and more on the pitch page.
There’s a changing but complete and entirely free sample on Google Drive.
If that generous sample is available for free, it asks why anyone would back the project. As with earlier campaigns, this exquisite corpse will make a gorgeous hardback and come with accessories.
Inside the tome;
- An alternative vision of the world — Weiroads — to explore and customize
- 27 interconnected characters with illustrations and backgrounds
- 27 monsters with illustrations and lore
- 27 unique items with illustrations and lore
- 9 saints and their hagiography
- 3 cities unique to Weiroads with cultural, political, and religious backgrounds
- 3 unique environments with illustrations, lore, and hex-crawl maps
- Tons of rollable charts for world-building
There will be a standard and a fancy limited edition, embossed leather with gold foil stamping among the decorations. The limited edition also has a 27-page graphic novel, a story which returns to Nolan Locke, who we’ve seen in previous projects.
Inquisitor Kada’s Exquisite Corpse is a toolkit built for you to design a world for RPG stories. This book is written to work for any game you play — if you’re a dungeon master, a referee, or a keeper of arcane lore, you’re a story designer.
Backers at $25 get three PDFs; Inquisitor Kada’s Exquisite Corpse, Weiroads World Map and the Lightless Wastes Hex Maps.
At $35, the digital collection grows to include Nolan Loche’s own Exquisite Corpse, its World, and Hex Map sets.
The hardcover is added to the Kada PDF collection at $45. At this tier, backers get the PDF immediately after the campaign ends – even if it’s unsuccessful.
That fancy deluxe edition is swapped in for the hardcover at $60; it’s more popular than the standard edition at the time of blogging.
The campaign goes higher, to $115 for both Kada and Nolan hardcovers plus the PDFs.
There are add-ons and a retailer tier, with the estimated delivery suggested for January 2024.
