Baki Hanma is the anime for you if you like your male characters not to wear very much and/or are into sometimes shocking fights. Mixed signals.
The second season of Keisuke Itagaki’s manga, aka Hanma Baki – Son of Ogre, is speeding its way back to Netflix and goes global on the 26th of July.
It won’t stop there as after the weirdly named “Pickle War” saga there’s the “The Father versus Son” saga due in August.
That English-subtitled trailer adds a little context and we have Netflix’s summary of the story too;
The story finally unfolds into a full-blooded clash between Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as the “strongest creature on earth.” The climax of the Baki universe, which depicted the “strongest parent-child brawl in history of the world” in the original manga, has been adapted into the long-awaited anime!
The Pickle in the Pickle War saga is a person. Pickle is a warrior from the ancient past brought back by the scientist Dr. Albert Payne. I imagine we’ll see Pickle fight. Takeshi Kusao will voice the oddly named warrior. Kusao’s notable roles include Tales of Phantasia’s Cless and Inyasha’s Bankotsu. Nobuo Tobita voices Albert Payne. Tobita voices Kamille Bidan in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Kazami in Detective Conan.
