The Royal Mail was founded in 1516 by King Herny VIII, starting when the monarch created the position “Master of the Posts”.
Of course, the British public did not get access to it until 1635, and it cost to receive letters these days.
This week, the Royal Mail announced it would sell a special set of Warhammer stamps. So, well, one for the history books?
It’s not just the grimdark Warhammer 40K that the Royal Mail (currently trading as International Distributions Services plc after privatisation) that the stamp collection draws on. The set also has Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and Warhammer: The Old World designs.
I’m not sure if these stamps are for use, but the temptation to send someone an official Nurgle candle in a package covered in all the wrong Warhammer stamps is high!
Games Workshop have been selling Warhammer minis since 1983, meaning the game has been going for 40 years. The tabletop giant are delighted with the Royal Mail deal.
How do I know, Helen Smallridge, global head of marketing at the company, told the press:
We’re delighted to be partnering with Royal Mail to mark the 40th anniversary”
From humble beginnings, Warhammer has grown into a British institution and a global success, with our fantasy miniatures collected by millions around the world.”
