A Japanese company has developed a miniature version of the Phalanx CIWS automatic gun system – but in BB form!
Suidobashi Heavy Industries has created this… I’m assuming purely for shits and giggles, because it could in actuality do quite a bit of damage!
For context, the Phalanx CIWS, one of the US Navy’s most reliable weapon systems, features a radar-guided 20mm Vulcan cannon mounted on a swivelling base. You generally find them on most combat ships.
The difference is, this one will fire thousands of tiny plastic BB pellets instead of metal ‘uns.
The company’s CEO has form; Kogoro Kurata is also known as the creative genius behind the exceptionally cool KURATAS mecha (boardable robot).
