As the Sun Forever Sets is a new roleplaying game by Riley Daniels, and Evil Hat Productions have an open sign-up for playtesting.
The Forged in the Dark game is set in Victorian Britain as the aliens invade. The overpowering force from Mars forces the player characters into a desperate battle for survival.
This unstoppable invasion meets its match just as in H.G. Well’s masterpiece, The War of the Worlds. The Martians succumb to the diseases and micro-organisms of Earth, and at the end of As The Sun Forever Sets, the planet has changed.
Evil Hat says the game is a horror survival as the 15 days it takes for the microbes to defeat the invasion, which the Victorian military can not, are challenging to survive. Characters will need food, medicine and weapons.
It’s also a game about relationships and changes in a society divided by class and riddles with prejudice.
As The Sun Forever Sets is a sandbox hex crawl, using a map to track the invasion and the groups of survivors. Guiding what might be found and who might be encountered, the map does not precisely determine what happens, and that’s up to the decisions made and the dice roll.
