I’ve read and enjoyed Cixin Liu’s The Three-Body Problem, but getting into the clever Chinese sci-fi took a while.
There’s an unpleasant trip into China’s recent past, a strange computer game, and missing scientists. I think I can identify most, if not all, of the scenes in Netflix’s trailer.
David Benioff and DB Weiss of Game of Thrones (in)famous behind the Netflix version of the series. And, hey, at least this book series is finished.
The epic has an extensive cast list, including some GoT familiars. In the cast are names like Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, Eiza González, Jovan Adepo, Alex Sharp, John
Bradley, Saamer Usmani, Liam Cunningham, Rosalind Chao, Jonathan Pryce, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Ben Schnetzer and Zine Tseng.
It’s reported that Netflix has spent $200 on this series, and it is their second partnership with David Benioff and DB Weiss. Previously, The Chair was cancelled after one series.
As The Chair was not much like Game of Thrones, it’s impossible to see how the 3 Body Problem could be either. In fact, The Three-Body Problem is a sci-fi high-brough alternative to the pair’s take on a Song of Ice and Fire.
When does the 3 Body Problem come to Netflix? It’s slated for January next year.
