It’s coming up for that time again – San Diego Comic Con (or ‘The Big Clown Fraud’ as I like to call it*) is now just a month away, and in anticipation we’re seeing some con exclusives start to drop.
Like these amazing Judge Dredd posters by graphic artist Matt Ferguson!
Matt, who has previously worked on posters for the likes of Marvel Studios and Disney, has created two variations of the movie-style Judge Dredd posters that will be exclusively available from the Rebellion booth during the convention itself.
Posters are limited, but keep reading, and I’ll tell you where you’ll be able to buy them online – if you’re quick enough!
Before we go any further, let’s take a look at them:
Abso-fuckin-lutely beautiful.
“You know what Mega City One is, Dredd? It’s a fucking meat grinder. People go in one end, and meat comes out the other. All we do is turn the handle.“
Okay, let’s get onto the details!
The colour version is an absolutely stunning 24” x 36” offset litho fine art poster printed on gorgeous 300gsm Accent Recycled stock, with each copy individually numbered and limited to just 400 copies in colour.
The black and white version with coloured Dredd – which I’m not sure if I prefer, to be honest – is also gorgeous, and only 100 copies will be available at SDCC.
In order to create this gnarly scene of Mega City One, from the minds of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, artist Ferguson took inspiration from over 45 years of Judge Dredd comics from publisher 2000 AD. It’s full of Easter Eggs, too!
Here’s what the Sheffield-based artist had to say:
“I have been a long time fan of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd and I always love working in that universe of comics, so it was great to apply techniques I would typically use for a movie poster on a project like this. It’s always fun to pack posters with easter eggs and Mega-City One is perfect for such a poster. Get wise! Get Ugly!”
Not going to SDCC this year? Fear not! If you’re a subscriber to 2000 AD, there will also be 150 copies of the colour edition and 50 of the black and white edition available to buy directly via the 2000 AD online store at shop.2000AD.com from 12pm BST on Thursday 20th July.
*Because I’m weird like that, and it’s just how I refer to all comic cons – and everyone knows SDCC is the big ‘un. Not trying to be insulting to anyone who likes comic cons! Dragon Con is a basilisk scam. Wizard Con is an auror dupe. Chiller Con is a freezer swindle – etc.
