Liam Neeson, exploding cars, a family held hostage situation, and a distorted voice on the end of the phone… what’s not to love about this new Retribution trailer?!
Coming soon from Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate, it’s Liam Neeson being a badass once again for the sake of his fictional family.
Described as “an immersive ticking clock thriller that straps audiences in for a high-octane ride of redemption and revenge” it looks like one to add to your list!
In the story, Neeson’s character is a bank executive who’s on the school run when he receives a call telling him his car will explode if anyone gets out. Initially thinking it’s a joke, he hangs up and witnesses the consequences, and, well… everything just kind of spirals from there.
The main question is this: just how many cars have to explode before Liam Neeson does what he’s told?
Here’s the official trailer, you can check it out for yourself, but this one has all the markers of a surefire classic:
Gnarly, huh? The synopsis reads:
When a mysterious caller puts a bomb under his car seat, Matt Turner (Liam Neeson) begins a high-speed chase across the city to complete a specific series of tasks. With his kids trapped in the back seat and a bomb that will explode if they get out of the car, a normal commute becomes a twisted game of life or death as Matt follows the stranger’s increasingly dangerous instructions in a race against time to save his family.
Retribution is directed by Nimród Antal (Vacancy, Armored, Predators, Metallica Through the Never), and stars Noma Dumezweni, Lilly Aspell, Jack Champion (Avatar 2), Embeth Davidtz, and Matthew Modine.
Okay, shut up and take my money! The film is out in cinemas on August 25th.
