Omer Golan-Joel, of Stellagama Publishing will see a second edition of his Barbaric! sword and sorcery game moves to production as its Kickstarter campaign hits its pledge target.
William William Murakami-Brundage is working with Stellagama on the project and running the Kickstarter, although the division of labour isn’t entirely clear. The project has more than a month to run.
The Barbaric RPG is a lightweight beer and pretzels tabletop requiring neither booze nor baked snacks. In fact, the idea is that it requires very little to play – just 2d6, some writing material and some ideas.
The system uses skills but no classes. The changes for Barbaric! 2e includes a recast magic system, rebalanced combat (to make it even more barbaric), a better layout, enhanced art, edits and rules for running NPCs and PC factions.
Barbarians! Civilized men huddle behind tall stone walls, trembling at the thought. The soldiers of civilization tighten their shield walls against the oncoming onslaught. And then they come. Savage men and women, screaming at the top of their lungs, oblivious to fear, frothing at the mouth from rage and lust for war. Wave after wave, they storm shields and fortifications. Many die; the pagan gods bless their souls. But eventually, mail and castle fail. Then, the flames of barbarism will sweep the land, leaving no stone unturned.
Early bird pledge tiers are open, but those who miss out can still back the project.
At $5, backers will get the Barbaric! 2e PDF as a thank-you reward.
DriveThruRPG’s print-on-demand with an at-cost voucher unlocks at $10; however, the campaign also includes bundle deals.
The Stellagama PDF Bundle worth more than $70 is included in the rewards for those who back at $35, while the entire line, $120 worth of downloads, is added for those at the $60 mark.
William Murakami-Brundage and Stellagama estimate delivery of December 2023 on the Kickstarter.
