A new, never-before-seen trailer for Solo Leveling was unveiled for the exciting new series from A-1 Pictures on Monday.
The trailer was shown during Crunchyroll‘s industy panel announcements at Anime Expo 2023, and has already got fans talking. Apparently the pacing is a big deal with this series, so it’s important they get it right.
Here’s how the story was described at last year’s panel in July 2022:
It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
The anime’s cast features Taito Ban as Sung Jinwoo/Shun Mizushino, Reina Ueda as Cha Hae-In/Shizuku Kosaka, Hiroki Touchi as Baek Yoonho/Taiga Shirakawa, Genta Nakamura as Yoo Jinho/Kenta Morohishi, Daisuke Hirakawa as Choi Jong-In/Shin Mogami, Banjou Ginga as Go Gunhee/Kiyoomi Gotō, Makoto Furukawa as Woo Jinchui/Akira Inukai.
The series is being directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory) with Noboru Kimura (Gundam Build Divers, Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!) as the head writer.
In charge of character design, we have Tomoko Sudo (Alice in Borderland, Fragtime), with music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Blue Exorcist, Kill la Kill, Mobile Suit Gundam UC).
Solo Leveling is due to be released in the first quarter of 2024, and will be streamed outside of Asia by Crunchyroll.
