Benedict Cumberbatch knows something we don’t when it comes to what’s next for Doctor Strange in the MCU – although, after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it’s not really much of a leap that something will be happening.
Cumberbatch was recently a guest in the JW3 Speaker Series, and teased: “There are some Marvel capers in the making next year.”
Now, Marvel has not yet announced the next Doctor Strange movie (or if that’ll even be a thing), so it’s looking likely that he’s going to be involved in another upcoming Marvel movie.
What could it be? Well, we’re looking at possibilities such as: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Blade, Captain America: Brave New World, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, and Thunderbolts. All of those are coming out in the next couple of years (2024/2025).
However, we do have a liiiiitle bit more of a clue by way of the Multiverse of Madness’s post-credit scene in which Strange appears with Charlize Theron’s character Clea, who tells Strange that “he caused an incursion and we’re going to fix it.” Clea asks Strange if he’s afraid he responds, “Not in the least.”
We’ve also got this tidbit from Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron, who has previously said about the whole thing:
“We knew that we wanted to introduce Clea. She’s Strange’s great love in the comics and it was felt to me like Strange wasn’t at the point at the start of our movie where he was ready to meet the love of his life. It felt like we had to close the loop with he and Christine Palmer. And so after she gives him her wisdom to not be afraid of loving someone, then it felt like we were right to tease what could be eventually with he and Clea.”
I’m personally quite a fan of Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, so it’ll be good to see what’s next for him. What do you think – do you have any inkling about what’s coming next? Is there anything you’d particularly like to see?
It’s Superhero Week, which means you now have the power to use these teleport links that can be found in these footers and which randomly connect articles together. Have fun – but remember, with great power, comes great responsibility!
