It’s come to my attention that some people have been worried about Deadpool 3. More specifically, Disney watering it down to just a fraction of the glory of the previous movies.
However, luckily I didn’t have to worry for too long (or at all), because now Karan Soni, who plays Dopinder in the movie has spoken up to echo many of the other crew members working on the project, by saying the movie will be a ‘hard R’.
Well, good. I like it hard R. *snigger* But seriously, Soni has openly praised Ryan Reynolds for all the ‘cool stuff’ he’s doing, and has reassured us all that the movie will not feel different now it’s a Disney movie (even if that’s strange to think about).
Here’s what Soni had to say:
I have begun working on that one, so I can say that it is the same as the other two. It’s like hard R. There’s a lot of that stuff. So it does not feel different. The only thing that, for me, is different is that I have not gotten the script this time. The other two, we did get it, it’s a big difference, at least for me, the MCU part of it vs. the Fox/Marvel part of it. They’re so strict. So I’ve only seen glimpses of what I’m in.
And speaking of Reynolds’ vision, he continued:
When I did some of the stuff, I saw some things that I didn’t know were in the thing. I think, I would just say it this way: Ryan [Reynolds] doesn’t need to do any of these movies unless he gets to do his version of it and he is such a star, and, I don’t need to say this, a creative genius. He’s taking this opportunity and really pushing everything and, definitely, he’s doing a lot of cool stuff. I feel very optimistic about it. Him and [director] Shawn [Levy], they work so well together, that I think it will be really exciting for people to see how they take their collaborations that they’ve done, now successfully twice, in this new version and play in this massive sandbox with a lot of stuff. It is very, very exciting. I will not underestimate Ryan Reynolds.
Nope. Absolutely no-one should underestimate Reynolds. He can literally take on anything at this point, the man seems practically untouchable.
A little while back, Shawn Levy previously talked about just how hardcore Deadpool 3 was going to be, saying:
“We are writing, rewriting, developing, prepping ‘Deadpool’ every day now. It is such a blast to laugh every day. It is so delicious to hear and write and come up with these scenes where people are just talking foul. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s very much a ‘Deadpool’ movie.”
Also confirming the R-rating is good old Kevin Feige, who said: “It’s amazing. And we’ve got Hugh Jackman coming back for our first Deadpool film within the MCU. That’s our first R-rated film.”
Not to mention Deadpool’s creator reportedly gushing about the star-studded cast, and saying the stuff he knows about will “melt your face”.
And certainly, the rumoured cast list includes the likes of Halle Berry, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Channing Tatum! All of those are unconfirmed, by the way.
Right. Can we stop the worrying now? Because if you’re not reassured after all that, I don’t know what to tell you.
