Project Black Flag is in print, electronic print anyway, as Tales of the Valiant is out.
Tales of the Valiant is the game born from the OGL alternative project helmed by Kobold and contributed to by many. The DriveThruRPG shop shelf says;
Whether you are a decades-long veteran of multiple editions of Dungeons & Dragons, or a new player looking for a game empowered by the tabletop community, the Tales of the Valiant Alpha Release delivers the full experience to you. All the tools of high adventure are here—plus new twists and new options born in the Kobold Press dungeons!
Authors include Celeste Conowitch, JB Little, Wolfgang Baur, Tim Hitchcock, Rajan Khanna, Jeff Lee, Mike Shea, Brian Suskind, and others.
The alpha release is 177 pages long and includes the following;
- Full character generation rules
- Spells
- Options for fighters (like the Spell Blade and Weapon Master), rogues (such as Enforcers and Thieves) and Wizards (Battle Mage and Cantrip Adept)
- Equipment
- 70+ monsters such as familiar owlbears, rust monsters and skeletons with less recognisable names such as sporeborn and husk demons.
The price for Tales of the Valiant is listed at $19.99, but the discount pegs it at $9.99. DriveThruRPG’s system usually gives free errata and updates. Still, it may be the case this ‘Alpha Release’ is intended to be a separate product, with the final edition still to be bought.
I’m not the only one with that question, as it’s been asked in the game’s discussion tab on DTRG without, so far, an answer. There’s no mention of the release on the Kobold blog yet.
