Lazy Litch, aka Shane Walshe, asked for €7,000 to fund their RPG accessory and with three weeks left on the clock, they’re about to surf through €35,000!
Wind Wraith is a wavecrawl (nee: hexcrawl on water) setting toolkit so you can build a ship and use it to explore a dark fantasy ocean world. You can track progress on Kickstarter.
A generative setting uses processes and procedures to create the world as you explore it. The alternative is for everything to be decided in advance, to one degree or another, and explored appropriately.
Wind Wraith is set in a gothic waterworld, and you explore between islands to meet and compete with factions over limited resources. Ships will encounter bad weather, ancient ruins guarded by strange constructs and need to hire crews and build upgrades.
The book is compatible with OSR-style games and has rules for underwater exploration, bacteria, parasites and naval skirmishes. Unfortunately for the ships on these dangerous waters, there are even rules for monstrous leviathans.
Few survive in this new ocean world, scattered among islands. Most knowledge was lost. Strange new cultures develop, isolated from each other. Artifacts and constructs from the age before can no longer be repaired and many now doubt mortals ever built such things. Leviathans dwell in the submerged throne rooms of forgotten kings below.
Metal is incredibly rare and wood is costly. Most tools are crafted from the bones of fish. Shells are used as currency. Seaweed and the dead make fertilizer to cultivate the precious seeds that survived. Fresh water is in short supply. Connection to the other planes of existence was damaged. The new world has not been explored or mapped. Dwarves adopt autarky, isolating themselves and refusing trade or communication.
Backers at €15 will get a digital copy of Wind Wraith, and those who step up to €30 are rewarded copies of the new book and the previous Woodfall, Willow, Haunted Hamlet and Toxic Wood PDFs.
A hardcover unlocks at €35, with worldwide shipping and a PDF included.
A limited edition is a reward for backers at €50, and those supporters who have €75 to offer will get the print bundle of the previous books.
The top tier is €90 or about £78, which includes 11 items and add-ons with the limited edition of Wind Wraith that won’t be available again.
The estimated delivery for all the tiers is July 2024.
