In a ballsy move that’s just completely changed the game, the almighty TikTok has just updated its features to include plain text options for its users – in addition to photos and videos.
By introducing text posts as an option in its ‘camera’ page, and giving users an option reminiscent of Instagram’s stories, you can now choose between photos, videos or texts when making a post on TikTok.
The new option was announced by TikTok via a news release on Monday.
… After all, why not? Why shouldn’t TikTok take all the glory for itself?!
I mean, Twitter has been going downhill for some time now (with the latest memes now circulating about ‘X’ being just a serif swastika and the like), and with Threads not quite hitting the mark (with its active users down 70% as of Friday), surely someone has to step up.
Are we really surprised our saviour is TikTok? Good old, trusty, dependable but sometimes content creator-hating TikTok.
The text post acknowledges that yes, there are some people – MANY people – out there who still like to express themselves best with words (myself included – although, I have been trying to embrace video of late and I’ve not being doing too badly).
Now you can take to TikTok to share your thoughts, stories, poems, lyrics or whatever else you fancy. Why not give it a try? (BTW, you can also find us there)
I fully suspect this may lure out a lot of the TikTok lurkers, who love to watch TikTok content from a bunch of their favourite creators, but don’t want to place themselves in front of the camera.
There’s a lot of them about. This is for them.
