Twisting D&D’s 5e rules and channelling moody horror like The Ritual, The Descent and Jacob’s Ladder, Handiwork Games have announced FiveEvil.
FiveEvil is a new horror RPG due out later this year.
Characters in FiveEvil are not fighters or paranormal investigators. In the tabletop RPG, the players take the roles of the everyday folk trapped in the nightmare scenario.
Designed by Morgan Davie, illustrated by Scott Purdy, Jon Hodgson et al., the game includes design and layout by Pual Bourne.
Morgan Davie, FiveEvil Designer, said in a statement;
I love 5e and I love horror gaming and in FiveEvil we get to push both of them somewhere unprecedented. a|state has shown we love exploring new pathways with beloved game systems, and this one is heading into wild new places. It’s a dream project, and I look forward to giving everyone nightmares.”
Handiwork has said they’ll bring the game to Kickstarter, and a public invitation to playtest will be made available soon.
Handiwork publishes the duet 5e-based RPG Beowulf, the bleak fight back of a|State, and the psychedelic Mesolithic storytelling game Maskwitches of Forgotten Doggerland. Some of these current games are available in DriveThruRPG’s Christmas in July sale, which has a few days left.
