A new clip released from upcoming horror Talk to Me shows teenagers… well, being teenagers, and acting in the awful way you know they would if given the chance to summon spirits.
Got to say, Talk to Me is one of the best horror films I’ve watched in quite a long time, having had the privilege of seeing it at an advanced screening just recently.
I enjoyed it because although none of the characters are particularly likeable and everyone makes bad decisions, it takes some surprising turns and, well, people – especially teenagers – are awful and illogical in real life, so why shouldn’t they be in horror films, too?
This new preview clip shows a group of teens who have gathered in someone’s sitting room to conjure spirits whilst filming the experience. Everyone’s having fun, until it all gets a bit real.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
“Conjuring spirits has become the latest local party craze, and looking for a distraction on the anniversary of her mother’s death, teenage Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action. When her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.”
Directed by Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou (brothers), Talk to Me stars Sophie Wilde (Mia) and Joe Bird (Riley), alongside Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto, Marcus Johnson, Alexandria Steffensen, Zoe Terakes, and Chris Alosio.
Talk To Me will be out in cinemas from July 28th, 2023.
