Sound a bit familiar? Well, Rat Wave Game House is hoping you might be interested. On Kickstarter, the target for Terminal, a digital pirate action RPG, of a battle against the Robot Authority has met the target, and there are three weeks left to join the backers.
Diana Jones Emerging Designer winner Kayla Dice has a hack of SoulMuppet’s Inevitable has a softcover A4 full-colour RPG to make now that Terminal’s funding goal has been met.
In Terminal, swashbuckling cyberpunk misfit heroes sail the dangerous seas, clash swords with killer robots, brawl with destructive programs in cyberspace, and face off against the manipulative architects of the living nightmare that is the Terminal. The game draws inspiration from various sources, including The Matrix films, Black Sails, Paprika, Twin Peaks, and Please, Baby, Please.
The RPG uses character Reputations heavily, and they are part of the mechanics and roleplaying guides for players.
A pirate who is Brash, Troubled, Righteous will have a very different Terminal campaign to one that is Considered, Loyal, Inquisitive.
A crash is coming, and Terminal games are about how it happens and what happens next.
- Curations of The Archivist – This Crash centres around an outdated program seeking revenge and attempting to collect and freeze all valuable information.
- Corruptions of The Passenger – This Crash involves a manipulative mind control program hacking into the minds of vulnerable individuals, specifically pirates.
- Tortures of The Killer – This Crash is centred around a perilous and wicked adversary who poses a threat to your loved ones that you have left behind.
- The Dying Dream – In this Crash scenario, players will explore a domain deeply affected by nightmares and regrets. The pirates’ objective is to retrieve a dangerous artefact.
- Sailor’s Warning – This Crash focuses on the core of Libertatia and may even result in your allies betraying you.
- Multiplied by 0 – This Crash centres around a malicious special agent who has transformed into a virus and seeks to destroy the Terminal.
Backers can support the indie RPG by sharing the Kickstarter with friends or pledging cash.
Those who pledge £15 or more will get a PDF of the final book, and those who double up to £30 will get the physical copy.
Backers at £40, and also get the GM Screen, with a map of the Hypnotic Sea.
There’s room for one super backer at £100 who gets their name in the book.
