Earthdawn’s 30th anniversary year produces Deeper Secrets

This is Earthdawn’s 30th anniversary, the historic RPG launched at GenCon 1993, and the current edition is 10 years old.

On Kickstarter, there’s a campaign to produce Deeper Secrets. It’s a book of magic, and FASA Corporation has doubled their $20,000 goal with pledges already, with time to join in.

This is not a Kickstarter for a new Earthdawn edition, but you can get Earthdawn’s core rules from add-ons in the form of Players Guide and Gamemasters Guide. In fact, you can get Deluxe hardcover editions of both this way.

The setting of Earthdawn is Barsaive, a region of city-states in the northern hemisphere of Earth. The world is recovering from a cataclysmic event known as the Reckoning, which saw the destruction of most of civilization and the banishment of magic. In the centuries since the Reckoning, magic has slowly begun to return, with it, new threats to the world.

Players in Earthdawn create characters who are Earthdawners, people who have been touched by magic. Earthdawners can choose from various character classes, including adepts, mages, and shamans. Each class has unique abilities and powers, which players can use to explore the world, battle monsters, and solve puzzles.

Deeper Secrets contains;

• 350 spells, including a sample from previous editions and brand-new entries.
• High Circle spells to Earthdawn Fourth Edition.
• Hundreds of new knacks for all Disciplines.
• New binding secrets featuring interesting spirits for characters to interact with.
• New improved spell knacks for all five spellcasting Disciplines.
• Three types of enchanting: fetishes, Named spells, and wards.

Backers can tap into the add-ons for a pledge of $1, and that’s an option if you want the anniversary pin.

At $25, supporters get a PDF copy of Deeper Secrets, with $30 offering a plush dragon, Alamaise, instead.

Backers with $50 get the print edition of Earthdawn’s Deeper Secrets, and FASA can support worldwide shipping.

Next up, there’s a leap for potential backers. Those who can stretch to $260 will get the softcover, PDF, spell card box, player character spell card box, elemental coin set, Earthdawn 30th Anniversary pin, Ysrthgrathe mini, and the Alamaise plush.

Some twists are next in the tier pipeline, as $285 gets the same, except Deeper Secrets is the Limited Hardcover edition. Then last but not least, $350 unlocks the Deluxe One of Everything, which gets the Deluxe Hardcover Edition of the magic book.

FASA Corporation estimates a December 2023 delivery for each tier.
