Shaun M Vale, Robin Storm and Amy Jane Hardy are UK-based creators bringing a new RPG of souls and spirits to Kickstarter.
Characters are wanderers who feel compelled to keep moving and investigate odd occurrences. It’s the paranormal investigator equivalent of being a restless soul. The team are closing on their Kickstarter target.
If funded, the finished book will have rules on character generation and the D6 system it uses. “Marshal” is used instead of GM, and Wanderer’s Call comes with Marshal Tips.
There are “Manifestation Examples”, which are Wanderer’s Call magic, lore about the Wanderers and the Call that drives them on details for enemies and allies.
There’s a session to play through, character sheets to use and photocopy and Amy Jane Hardy’s artwork throughout. There’s also a Kickstarter exclusive and limited edition.
We’re warned that the topics and storylines can sometimes get heavy.
Out of the box, the theme of Wandering’s Call can be a bit heavier and darker going at times, and is designed to be an exploration of the darker side of fantasy. However, the system has been designed to be tweaked very easily to be higher fantasy and to any power level or theme that the table wishes. The system is set in a mirror to our modern real world, but the book contains tips and direction on how to tweak the rules to fit virtually any setting.
A PDF copy of Wanderer’s Call is planned and given to backers who offer £6 or more in support.
Backers who stretch to £21 will get a hardback version of the occult RPG and the PDF, but shipping from the UK is restricted to certain countries only.
There’s a trade tier, and that limited edition is only available in low quantities and for backers who contribute £110. However, backers get bonuses such as a dice bag and a special mention at that tier.
The team estimate a December 2023 delivery for the project, except for the retail tier in January 2024.
